SUMMARY:NATO Parade of Nations
DESCRIPTION:Come join the Beachcombers as we participate in the annual NATO Parade of Nations in downtown Norfolk on Saturday\, April 22\, 2023.  This is the longest continuously running parade in Hampton Roads and the only parade in the United States honoring NATO!  Over 100 Parade Units with local and visiting high school bands\, U.S. and International Military bands\, and colorful floats which represent each of the NATO Member Nations! Local community organization and Festival partners are also featured.  This is a rain-or-shine event. \nWe will meet at 7:45AM at the Best Buy Parking lot on Independence Blvd. in Virginia Beach just off of I-264.  The Best Buy address is to the left under “VENUE”.  We will roll from Best Buy between 8AM and 8:15AM to Norfolk to stage for the parade.  We will be staging in the parking lot of Harbor Park. The time we meet at Best Buy has changed from 8AM to 7:45AM! \nWe are limited to 10 cars.  I’ll not be turning off the RSVPs for this event but know if you’ve signed up and you are after the 10th car registered\, you’ll be on standby\, and I’ll contact you if one of the first 10 RSVPs cannot attend based upon order of sign-ups. \nI’ll be periodically adding the names of those signed up right here in the event text so you can see if you’re registered.  I’ll be in contact with each parade participant to verify attendance as we get close to the event. \nHere are the cars and participants registered thus far: \n\nDenny and Trudy Garland\nArthur (Mack) Coppage\nWendy Hanson and Bill Kaelin\nHoward Hodges\nKristie Hollingsworth\nMike Salonga\nJean Stiegelmeyer and Jim Cyr\nMike Ware\nJohn Kummers\nKirsten and Mike McGinn\n\nWe currently have our 10 cars for the parade\, however if you still wish to be an alternate/stand-by please let me know! \nI will periodically update the list above.  Last updated on April 20th.

SUMMARY:St. Patrick's Day Parade
DESCRIPTION:We will be meet at the parking lot of Best Buy off of Independence Blvd. in Virginia Beach between 8:00 – 8:15 AM.  From there we will depart at 8:30AM and drive to the “Section 2\, Position 43” staging area to arrive before 9:00AM for the parade. Section 2 staging is near the intersection of E Westmont Ave and Stratford St.  Here is a close address to where we stage in Section 2: 142 E Westmont Ave\, Norfolk\, VA\, 23503.  The parade starts at 10am and is a rain-or-shine event! \nKnow there is a 10-car limit for the parade.  For those who sign up as the 11th car or after\, you will be on stand-by.  Should an opening occur\, I’ll let you know! \nAs of Thursday\, March 16th here are the list of parade participants: \n\nMike Ware\nPatrick Nolan\nKristie Hollingsworth\nJeff Biggs\nBob Bray\nMichele Suttle\nMack Coppage\nBill Kaelin and Wendy Hanson\n \n \n\nWe are short two cars to fill out our 10 for the parade.  So if anyone wishes to participate\, please contact me! \nBy all means bring decorations for your car and wear attire appropriate as long as its green! \nHere is the list of alternates: \n\n \n\nWe have no stand-by/alternates at this time. \nOnce the parade is over\, there is an after party at the Columbian Club of Ocean View at 211 W Government Ave\, Norfolk\, VA 23503.  The after party starts after the parade (approximately noon) and ends at 4PM.  The after party is open to everyone who is 21 years of age or older. \nAs I learn more about how to configure event RSVPs\, I’ve re-opened the sign-ups for this event. This is to allow a way for last minute changes to attendees.  Before I re-opened this event there was no way for attendees to have unforeseen reasons to indicate they can no longer attend.  Now you can go back to your RSVP(s) and indicate “Not Going” should you be unable to attend. Of course\, you can contact me if you cannot attend and then I can contact members waiting on the standby list to ensure we have 10 cars in the parade. \nAlso\, don’t worry about if you can see the colored circle with you Initials under “Who’s Attending” when viewing the event.
