SUMMARY:2024 NCRS National Convention
DESCRIPTION:NCRS 2024 Hampton Roads\, VA National Convention\nAt our July 2nd Business Meeting\, Dwight Farmer was a guest speaker who was very knowledgeable about the NCRS and the upcoming convention.  I had the opportunity to sit next to him after the meeting while having dinner at Reginella’s.  I’d asked about which day(s) would be best to visit during the convention.  He said Tuesday or Wednesday.  Since Tuesday\, August 6th is our monthly business meeting\, it would be better to plan a day trip for Wednesday\, August 7th to visit the convention.  Reviewing the convention calendar (here) for Wednesday\, we’ll have a group arrive at the Convention Center before 9AM to park and enter.  Spend as long as we wish with a break for lunch possibly there or nearby; we can decide while there.  Also\, when ready to leave we can depart as a group or individually.  Considering traffic at the HRBT\, we should leave 2-3PM to head home.  For those wishing to go we can expect to pay $5.00/car to park and then $10/person donation to enter the Convention. No need to drive your corvette; of course\, unless you want to!  I’ve set up an RSVP (below) for the Wednesday\, August 7th visit. \nSouthside beachcombers can meet Bill Kaelin at 7:45AM behind the Bojangles at the Southern Shopping Center located at 7519 Tidewater Dr\, Norfolk\, VA 23505 (the near the interchange of I-64 and Tidewater Dr).  We’ll roll at 8:00AM and head to the convention center to hopefully arrive before 9AM. \nSuffolk beachcombers can meet Ed Bickham at 8:00AM the Applebee’s located at 103 Lake View Pkwy\, Suffolk\, VA 23435. \nOr… if you prefer\, just meet the group at the convention center at 9AM\, just let me know your choice so we can meet up upon arrival \nHere is a list of attendees for the day trip to the Convention on Wednesday\, August 7th: \n\nBill Kaelin\nEd Bickham\nJoe Walsh\nAl Plotnik\nRich Gatling\n\nThis list will be updated periodically.  This list last updated on August 6th. \n  \n \nNCRS will celebrate its 50th anniversary at the 2024 Convention in Hampton Roads and we are planning some very special events to honor this milestone\, including reflections on our long history from surviving founding members. A very special welcome reception is being planned\, more details to come later\, along with other surprises and activities. A special 50th anniversary remembrance will be given to all registrants. Don’t miss this milestone event\, registration opens February 1st.  A schedule of events is here. \nA city with an old soul and a youthful enthusiasm. A Coastal Virginia vacation destination with fascinating sites to see and interesting things to do. A convention city with flexible facilities and a confident\, can-do attitude. Situated in the middle of the Hampton Roads region and the heart of the Mid-Atlantic\, Hampton welcomes vacationers and meeting attendees alike with charming hospitality\, multifaceted attractions and activities and an atmosphere of discovery. \nConsidering Hampton’s coastal heritage\, fresh and local isn’t a trend. It’s a way of life. We were built on our connection with the sea and the local watermen and farmers who bring the freshest ingredients from the docks and farms to your table. From craft breweries to incredible family- and chef–operated restaurants to every fast food option imaginable\, you’ll never have the same meal twice. \nNCRS to Honor American Heritage Candidates and Previous Recipients at its 50th Anniversary National Convention in 2024\nAll current owners of Corvettes that previously received the prestigious NCRS American Heritage Award and candidates for that award in 2024 are invited to be part of a special display of these unique cars at the NCRS National Convention in August 2024. This will be the 50th anniversary of the 1974 founding of the NCRS. All participants will be honored by special placement in the show hall and they will be presented with a commemorative plaque to memorialize this display. \nPlan to enjoy all of these activities as well as some very special Corvette displays and unique Corvettes. Please register as soon as possible beginning February 1\, 2024 either online (greatly preferred and pay a discounted registration fee of $180!) or through the US mail. ($200). Be sure to attend this celebration it took 50 years to achieve. \nRegistration forms postmarked prior to February 1st\, 2024 or incomplete will not be processed and will be returned to the sender. Registration forms received in the Membership Office office after June 1st\, 2024\, will not be processed and will be returned to the sender. Registration for Road Tours must be entered no later than June 1st. Paper Registrations received after June 1st will not be processed and will be returned to the sender. After June 1st\, you may only register on-site at the convention and are subject to a $25 late fee. No car registrations will be accepted after June 1st\, 2024. \nEarly registrations will minimize the chances that your car will be wait-listed\, or that you will not be able to attend a particular event. The later you register\, the greater the chance of disappointment! \nConvention registrations will be confirmed by email (or mail if none exists).\nRegistration packets\, meal tickets\, shirts and name badges\, etc. must be picked up onsite at the NCRS Registration Desk. Please always wear your Convention name badge. It is required for admission to all NCRS Convention events. \nCancellation Information\nConvention and/or Judging Registration cancellations must be received in writing (US Mail\, fax or email – whatever is easiest for you) on or before June 1st\, 2024\, and will be subject to a $25 service charge. There will be no refunds for cancellations received after June 1st\, 2024. On that date\,we confirm all the tours\, meals\, etc. with our various vendors. If you cannot attend after that late date\, the NCRS is responsible for paying our vendors for anything you ordered: therefore\, no refunds. \nSpecial Cancellation Information\nSpecial Cancellation of all or part of a registration is available to members who are scheduled for a judging prerequisite in Marlboro\, MA (05/30-6/1\, 2024). If a member fails to achieve the prerequisite\, he/she will be permitted to cancel thru Monday\, June 3rd\, 2024. \nCovid Restrictions\nThe National Corvette Restorers Society\, Inc.
