SUMMARY:Oceana Air Show
DESCRIPTION:For many years\, the Beachcombers have been supporting the Virginia Patriot Guard Riders with their vignette at the Oceana Air Show.  This year will be like last year with our cars on the Tarmac each day of the air show as part of the “Static Display”.  We will be adjacent to where the VPG will have their motorcycles (left/southwest of show center).  We will be escorting women in aviation in our cars each day of the air show.  Knowing the Oceana Air show website (here) indicates the air show is Saturday and Sunday.  There is also an air show on Friday.  The Friday air show is not open to the public.  It is open only to DOD members\, their families\, and 5th graders from local schools.  As of now\, we will open the air show each day.  Our vignette will start between 10-10:30AM and should be finished around 11:00AM.  After the vignette\, you can leave NAS Oceana\, or return to the static display and watch the air show.  If you will be able to leave before the end of the air show. \nLt. Amanda Lee will be flying the #3\, left wing\, during the show.  The link here has all of the officers on the current Blue Angel’s team.  You can read about her\, as well as all of the team members.  Know that she is a graduate of ODU! \nAll drivers and passengers need to be vetted!  Alternates too!  We will be filling out forms for this special base access.  The exception to this is if you have a DOD ID which already gives you base access.  Our vetting form will be submitted on Wednesday morning (September 6).  After that\, only Beachcombers with DOD IDs (or others who are on the vetting paperwork) can fill in if you cannot make it. \nWith our support each of the 3 days of the air show\, we will be needing 2-4 cars on Friday\, and 6-8 cars each day on Saturday and Sunday.  If we already have 4 cars on Friday\, 8 on Saturday\, 8 on Sunday\, please sign up as an alternate.  It is inevitable that personal reasons get in the way of attending\, and we need to go down the list of alternates who have been vetted to ensure we have enough cars to support the VPG. \nKnow that this is a rain or shine event!  Should the Air Boss running each day’s Air Show decide to cancel/postpone that day’s show due to weather\, I’ll let each participant know. \nFor those interested in knowing more about the Virginia Patriot Guard\, you can visit their website here. \nHere are the Cars/Attendees for each day at the Air Show: \nFriday\, September 15th (names after 8 are alternates): \n\nBill Kaelin\nHoward Hodges\nMike Ware\nPete Taylor\nKent Wagoner\nAnnie Lahren\nJohnny Jones\nJay Vega\n\nSaturday\, September 16th (names after 8 are alternates): \n\nWendy Hanson and Bill Kaelin\nFrank Little\nAnnie Lahren\nKristie Hollingsworth and Kevin Adams\nMike Ware\nJake Orbach\nTerrie and Kent Wagoner\nPete Taylor\nJohnny Jones\nJay Vega\n\nSunday\, September 17th (names after 8 are alternates): \n\nPatrick Nolan\nLV and Mike Torain\nTerrie and Kent Wagoner\nAnnie Lahren\nBob Bray\nPreston and Wes Powers\nJohn Pitts\nWendy Hanson and Bill Kaelin\nMike Ware\nKristie Hollingsworth\n\nThese lists will be updated periodically.  These lists last updated on September 6th.

SUMMARY:Corvettes at Greenbrier 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Tidewater Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America (TRAACA) is hosting their 49th annual meet at Chesapeake City Park.  This event is open to all years\, all makes\, all models.  TRAACA is trying to show corvettes from ever year to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Corvette.  Registration opens on June 1st and mail-ins must be postmarked by September 2nd.  This is a rain-or-shine event\, no rain date\, no refunds.  The link to their registration page is here.  The registration form is here.  Mail-in Registration is $20 with postmark by September 2nd\, late/DOS is $25.  All vehicles must have a fully charged\, UL-approved fire extinguisher visible at all times and cannot display “For Sale” signs. \nThey are looking especially for: special editions\, Z06s\, ZR1s\, 1953\, 1963 split window\, Pace Cars (1972\, 2008…)\, 1982 collector edition\, Cx.R models\, 1996 Grand Sport\, etc. Also\, every anniversary edition (1993\, 2003\, 2013 and 2023). \nHere is a list of Beachcombers who are attending as of August 10th: \n\nBob Bray\nWade Moorefield\nLarry Crutsinger\nJerry Peaks\nWade Ridgely\nCynthia Jordan\nAl Plotnick\nTony Delaura\n\n
