SUMMARY:12th Annual Extortion 17 Ride
DESCRIPTION:We will be participating in this annual ride.  The Virginia Patriot Guard (VPG) organizes this event every year.  We have the Virginia Beach Police escort the ride which encircles Virginia Beach.  We start at Lendy’s Cafe.  There we will have a brief ceremony with an Honor Guard\, singing the National Anthem\, a benediction\, and the Frogmen MC will be reading the names of the 30 soldiers\, Sailors\, Airmen and 1 Military Working Dog who gave their ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom.  For those who do not know Extortion 17 refers to the call sign used for the helicopter transporting special ops personnel which was shot down over Afghanistan on August 6th\, 2011.  Here is a link to a good write up about this tragedy.  Once the ride is over\, you can go or stay at Lendy’s Cafe for lunch and beverages. \nKnow that we may be asked to carry gold star family members\, so let me know if you will have an empty seat or not.  The VPG is also asking how many of us are going to stay after the ride to have lunch at Lendy’s.  They are blocking off parking area in front of Lendy’s for when we return from the ride. \nA link to the VPG Mission Orders detailing the event is here. \nThis will be a rain or shine event and we have room for 20 cars.  Please sign up below before August 2nd! \nBelow is a list of participants: \n\nWendy Hanson and Bill Kaelin\nTom Quicke and Joey Fontana\nPatrick Nolan and Ramiro Satizabal\nJohn Kummers\nMarge and Joe Wryk\nPreston Powers\nTerrie and Kent Wagoner\nKaren and Dave Ambrose\n\nThis list will be updated periodically.  This list was last updated on August 3rd. \n

SUMMARY:Carriages on West Street
DESCRIPTION:Our friends at the Corvette Annapolis Club are hosting their annual Carriages on West Street event.  This is an NCCC East Region Event.  The Concours car show is on Sunday\, August 13th from 9AM-1PM.  Registration prior to July 31st is $55.00 for all 4 events.  After then\, registration is $60 for the 4 events.  Online registration started on May 15th.  The event is sold out\, but you can be added to the waiting list. The link is here.  Know that the show is limited to the first 85 Corvettes! \nNot only is there a car show on Sunday\, but there is also a Happy-Hour/Meet-and-Greet on Saturday\, August 12th at the Metropolitan from 5:00PM to 7:00PM\, located at 169 West Street\, Annapolis\, MD 21401. Parking is available in the parking garage located in the rear. There is a breakfast on Sunday Stan and Joes from 8:30AM to 11:00AM located at 37 West Street\, Annapolis\, MD 21401. \nFor those wishing to travel as a group\, plan to meet Joe Wryk at the WAWA Service Center located at 5701 Northampton Blvd\, Virginia Beach\, VA 23455 (here) on Saturday\, August 12th at 9:30AM.  To ensure we don’t leave anyone behind\, please call Joe if you’re running late getting to the WAWA.  Joe’s phone number is 757-342-9207.  From Wawa\, we will head up the Eastern Shore to Easton\, MD\, about a 3.5-hour drive.  We will stop for lunch at “Hot Off the Coals” for some excellent BBQ.  After lunch\, we will continue onto Annapolis which is an hour drive From Easton. \nSince Beachcombers are scattered at various hotels in the Annapolis area\, after all get checked in\, we’ll meet at the event’s Meet-and-Greet which is from 5:00-7:00PM at the Metropolitan (location above). While there\, we can plan for follow on activities which may include dinner or other festivities. DESCRIPTION:Join our friends from the Old Dominion Corvette Club of Sterling Virginia for their 34th Annual All Corvette Cruise in at Bomnin Chevrolet in Manassas Virginia.  Pre-registration is $15.00 (before August 11th\, link is below).  Day of Show is $20.  This is a rain or shine event.  Proceeds to benefit LAWS Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services\, Prince WIlliam County Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children\, and the National Corvette Museum.  All entrants to receive a dash plaque and door prize ticket.  There will be a DJ\, Food Trucks\, Silent Auction\, 50/50 raffle and more. \nIt’s a 3 to 3-1/2 hour drive from Virginia Beach to the Bomnin dealership.  Could be just a long one-day trip to participate in the show. \nYou can pre-register at the website address in the blue “DETAILS” box on this page which is also here. \nIf you’re interested\, please let me know!

SUMMARY:Khedive Autos Fun and Shine Car Show

DESCRIPTION:A BCC favorite!  Last year we brought more than 25 cars to help us celebrate the BCC 40th anniversary.  Here is a link to the Carlisle event: Corvettes at Carlisle. DESCRIPTION:Buckle up race fans! The IMSA WeatherTech Championship is ready for another exciting race weekend at the historic Virginia International Raceway. August 25th to 27th is your chance to witness the riveting spectacle and feel nearly 600 HP thunder in your chest as we celebrate this one-of-a-kind event. However\, the racing fuel that tingles your nose down by the pits is not all that IMSA at VIR has to offer. Relax with some refreshment at the Oak Tree Tavern\, hang out on the Skid Pad with the top-notch vendors and striking car corrals or feed your inner adrenaline junkie at 50 mph down at the go-kart track. As the sun paints the sky in the evening\, take in the beauty of all 1300 acres as they frame the track that we at VIR call home. You can purchase VIR tickets here. \nWe have 8 non-smoking rooms available at the Quality Inn\, Roxboro\, NC (Address is: 906 Durham Rd\, Roxboro\, NC 27573) for Friday and Saturday night. You can call the Inn at (336) 599-3800. Use either my name or Beachcombers Corvette Club to reserve your room. Two double beds\, microwave\, mini-fridge\, and coffee maker. Rates are $162 Friday\, $171.55 Saturday. Both nights total with taxes and fees ($44.53) is $378.08.  Please book by August 22nd. \nBeachcombers\, on Friday August 25th plan to meet at Greenbrier Mall at 5:30 pm\, adjacent to Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant. The driving time to the Quality Inn from the Greenbrier Mall is about 3 hours 20 minutes.
