SUMMARY:NATO Parade of Nations
DESCRIPTION:Come join the Beachcombers as we participate in the annual NATO Parade of Nations in downtown Norfolk on Saturday\, April 22\, 2023.  This is the longest continuously running parade in Hampton Roads and the only parade in the United States honoring NATO!  Over 100 Parade Units with local and visiting high school bands\, U.S. and International Military bands\, and colorful floats which represent each of the NATO Member Nations! Local community organization and Festival partners are also featured.  This is a rain-or-shine event. \nWe will meet at 7:45AM at the Best Buy Parking lot on Independence Blvd. in Virginia Beach just off of I-264.  The Best Buy address is to the left under “VENUE”.  We will roll from Best Buy between 8AM and 8:15AM to Norfolk to stage for the parade.  We will be staging in the parking lot of Harbor Park. SUMMARY:Bring Your Own Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Join us at noon at Bayville Farms Park which is a 68-acre park established in 1978 through the cooperative efforts of the City of Virginia Beach\, the National Park Service\, and Virginia’s Department of Conservation and Recreation.  The park includes an 18-hole disc golf course\, which was the first of its kind in Virginia Beach. \nThere is no RSVP/sign-up for this event\, just show up.  The park has construction work on the north side (closest to Shore Drive)\, so we’ll meet at the southernmost pavilion where parking is close by.  There are two entrances to the park from First Court Road so turn into the southernmost driveway away from the construction which is the entrance for the disk golf course.  If the weather isn’t good\, come back to see if this event is still on. \nAs of now\, the event is a go. Pack your favorite lunch and beverage and we’ll see you there!

DESCRIPTION:Beachcombers\, are you up for a road trip?  If so\, you may want to consider joining us on a trip to the SOUTHERN GRACE DISTILLERY near Charlotte\, NC.  We’ll be leaving on Thursday\, April 13 and return home on Friday\, April 14. \nThe current plan is to meet at Greenbrier Mall\, adjacent to Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant\, on Thursday morning at 7:00 am and travel to the distillery with stops as necessary along the way.  Once in the vicinity of the distillery we’ll stop for lunch at one of the distillery’s recommended restaurants.  We have reservations for a 2:00 pm tour and tasting and you can pay the per person charge upon arrival. \nFollowing the distillery\, we’ll head to the SpringHill Suites Charlotte Concord Mills/Speedway for the night (located at 7811 Gateway Lane\, Concord\, NC 28027).  Please call them at 1-704-979-2500 to make your room reservation.  After check-in we can head out to one of the local eateries for dinner. \nOn Friday morning\, you’re on your own to explore the area with a planned meeting in the hotel parking lot at NOON to head to the Richard Childress Winery which is about an hour from the hotel.  At the vineyard we’ll enjoy lunch followed by browsing / shopping in their gift shop.  Then when everyone is ready – we’ll head home. \nIn order to confirm our reservations at the Distillery and Winery please sign up below or contact Bill at 757-343-4873 or Joe at 757-342-9207.  Please do so no later than Friday\, April 7.  Be sure you indicate total number traveling in your party. \nBelow are the Beachcombers who have signed up.  I’ll update this list periodically: \n\nCarolyn and Ed Bickham\nMarge and Joe Wryk\nJeff Biggs\nFran and John Kummers\n\nThis list was last updated on April 3rd.

DESCRIPTION:We will be meet at the parking lot of Best Buy off of Independence Blvd. in Virginia Beach between 8:00 – 8:15 AM.  From there we will depart at 8:30AM and drive to the “Section 2\, Position 43” staging area to arrive before 9:00AM for the parade. Section 2 staging is near the intersection of E Westmont Ave and Stratford St.  Here is a close address to where we stage in Section 2: 142 E Westmont Ave\, Norfolk\, VA\, 23503.  The parade starts at 10am and is a rain-or-shine event! \nKnow there is a 10-car limit for the parade.  For those who sign up as the 11th car or after\, you will be on stand-by.  Should an opening occur\, I’ll let you know! \nAs of Thursday\, March 16th here are the list of parade participants: \n\nMike Ware\nPatrick Nolan\nKristie Hollingsworth\nJeff Biggs\nBob Bray\nMichele Suttle\nMack Coppage\nBill Kaelin and Wendy Hanson\n \n \n\nWe are short two cars to fill out our 10 for the parade.  So if anyone wishes to participate\, please contact me! \nBy all means bring decorations for your car and wear attire appropriate as long as its green! \nHere is the list of alternates: \n\n \n\nWe have no stand-by/alternates at this time. \nOnce the parade is over\, there is an after party at the Columbian Club of Ocean View at 211 W Government Ave\, Norfolk\, VA 23503.  The after party starts after the parade (approximately noon) and ends at 4PM.  The after party is open to everyone who is 21 years of age or older. \nAs I learn more about how to configure event RSVPs\, I’ve re-opened the sign-ups for this event. This is to allow a way for last minute changes to attendees.  Before I re-opened this event there was no way for attendees to have unforeseen reasons to indicate they can no longer attend.  Now you can go back to your RSVP(s) and indicate “Not Going” should you be unable to attend. DESCRIPTION:The Rods and Customs group of Manteo/Nags Head has a group of cars in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Nags Head.  The parade starts at 1PM on Sunday\, March 19th.  The group has a dinner event on Saturday evening at the Sugar Creek Soundfront Seafood Restaurant at 7pm on Saturday\, March 18th. \nSaturday\, March 18th – Beachcombers wishing to go to the R&C dinner event at 7PM\, we will meet at the Greenbrier Mall in Chesapeake\, VA in the old Sears parking lot at 4:30PM. We will roll at 5PM for the 2-hour drive to the Sugar Creek Soundfront Seafood Restaurant at 7PM. If you prefer\, you can just meet us at the restaurant. SUMMARY:IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship - Rolex 24 Hour Daytona
DESCRIPTION:Daytona International Speedway\nThis is about the time of year when we begin thinking (and planning) for the Beachcombers annual migration to Daytona Beach\, FL for the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA. This 24-hour sports car endurance race is held annually and kicks off the new IMSA Weather Tech SportsCar Championship season. There are traditionally around sixty cars in the field competing for the overall victory as well as four different classes. Each team trades shifts between three and five drivers. Types of cars include Porsches\, Ferraris\, Corvettes\, Mazda\, Fords\, Lamborghinis\, Lexus and Cadillac. For those new to the Beachcombers\, we have made this multi-day road trip for several years and have always had a good time. If IMSA racing is something you enjoy or is something you’d like to learn more about\, you won’t be disappointed by attending this race. The weather can be unpredictable\, but we’ve always managed to make the best of it and the race still goes on. The current plan is to depart for Daytona on Thursday\, January 26 and drive to Savannah GA\, where we’ll spend the night and then drive into Daytona on Friday\, January 27. Rooms have been blocked at the Iris Garden Inn in Savannah and at the Super 8 in Daytona Beach\, FL\, under the Beachcombers Corvette Club name.\n\nTo reserve a room at the Iris Garden Inn for Thursday January 26\, call 1-912-777-5002 and ask for one of the rooms reserved for the Beachcombers Corvette Club at the rate of $79.00 (plus tax).\n\nTo reserve a room at the Super 8 call 386-255-5540 and tell them you wish to reserve one of the rooms blocked for the Beachcombers Corvette Club. The room rate at the Super 8 is $649.00 plus tax for the 3-night stay. This is more than we usually pay but because this being a race weekend room rates are extremely high.\n\nTo take advantage of the above rates you must reserve your rooms prior to November 30\, 2022. \nAfter that the above room rates will not apply. On January 30\, after checking out of the hotel you’re on your own as some may be taking side trips to other adventures and others heading directly back home.

DESCRIPTION:Come and join us for the First Mystery Cruise of 2023.  We are letting you know where we are ending this time.  Open to all clubs and members!  All makes and models! \nHall Chevrolet in Chesapeake will be hosting us with an open parking lot\, and your CCCHR will be providing lunch and refreshments! Our rout will be provided in the morning before we depart. \nThis is a great way to meet new friends\, get your car/truck out of winter storage and have some fun. \nWe will meet at Greenbrier Mall at 0930 in front of the old Sears\, with a departure at 1000 for our destination.  Come with a full tank of fuel.  The trip will be approximately 2 hours one way to our destination.  We will divide up into groups of 5-7 cars with a lead car who is responsible for that group. \nThe Mystery Cruise will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.  This is a Sunshine only event!!!
