DESCRIPTION:Come join us for our annual Valentine’s Day Fun Run!  This year we’ll be heading to the Surf Rider in Poquoson\, VA.  Southside BCC members and guests will meet at the old Sears Parking lot at the Greenbrier Mall (located at 1401 Greenbrier Parkway S\, Chesapeake\, VA 23320) at 11:00AM.  We will roll at 11:15AM and head to meet our West Side BCC members at Buckroe Beach (located at: 100 S 1st St.\, Hampton\, VA 23664) at 12:00 noon.  We will depart 12:15pm as a group for a drive through Hampton and Poquoson with a route to be determined.  We will arrive at the Surf Rider at 1PM for our luncheon.  Afterwards at approximately 3PM we will depart the Restaurant.  After the luncheon\, there is no longer plans to visit a wine or beer taste room. \nThe link to the Surf Rider menu is here. \nAlso\, when signing up\, please move the slider “Show me on the public attendee list” so that your initials show up on this event page! \nPlease RSVP by noon on Saturday\, February 4th!

SUMMARY:IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship - Rolex 24 Hour Daytona
DESCRIPTION:Daytona International Speedway\nThis is about the time of year when we begin thinking (and planning) for the Beachcombers annual migration to Daytona Beach\, FL for the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA. This 24-hour sports car endurance race is held annually and kicks off the new IMSA Weather Tech SportsCar Championship season. There are traditionally around sixty cars in the field competing for the overall victory as well as four different classes. Each team trades shifts between three and five drivers. Types of cars include Porsches\, Ferraris\, Corvettes\, Mazda\, Fords\, Lamborghinis\, Lexus and Cadillac. For those new to the Beachcombers\, we have made this multi-day road trip for several years and have always had a good time. If IMSA racing is something you enjoy or is something you’d like to learn more about\, you won’t be disappointed by attending this race. The weather can be unpredictable\, but we’ve always managed to make the best of it and the race still goes on. The current plan is to depart for Daytona on Thursday\, January 26 and drive to Savannah GA\, where we’ll spend the night and then drive into Daytona on Friday\, January 27. Rooms have been blocked at the Iris Garden Inn in Savannah and at the Super 8 in Daytona Beach\, FL\, under the Beachcombers Corvette Club name.\n\nTo reserve a room at the Iris Garden Inn for Thursday January 26\, call 1-912-777-5002 and ask for one of the rooms reserved for the Beachcombers Corvette Club at the rate of $79.00 (plus tax).\n\nTo reserve a room at the Super 8 call 386-255-5540 and tell them you wish to reserve one of the rooms blocked for the Beachcombers Corvette Club. The room rate at the Super 8 is $649.00 plus tax for the 3-night stay. This is more than we usually pay but because this being a race weekend room rates are extremely high.\n\nTo take advantage of the above rates you must reserve your rooms prior to November 30\, 2022. \nAfter that the above room rates will not apply. On January 30\, after checking out of the hotel you’re on your own as some may be taking side trips to other adventures and others heading directly back home.

Our rout will be provided in the morning before we depart. \nThis is a great way to meet new friends\, get your car/truck out of winter storage and have some fun. \nWe will meet at Greenbrier Mall at 0930 in front of the old Sears\, with a departure at 1000 for our destination.  Come with a full tank of fuel.  The trip will be approximately 2 hours one way to our destination.  We will divide up into groups of 5-7 cars with a lead car who is responsible for that group. \nThe Mystery Cruise will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.  This is a Sunshine only event!!!

DESCRIPTION:Fellow Beachcombers… come by The Garage Brewery for some good conversation and craft beer!  For the BCC\, this is a monthly event on the 2nd Wednesday.  Each month\, a selected BCC member’s Corvette gets to park inside for all patrons to see. There is a food truck outside which changes almost daily. Also\, Corvette owners receive a 10% discount off of their craft beer!  The front parking lot is blocked off for us to park.  It’s a fun event!

This year the First State Corvette Club Car Show is in Houston\, DE which is about a three-hour drive from our area. SUMMARY:Vette Fest in Gatlinburg\, TN | Sept. 7-12
DESCRIPTION:The date is set but the venue has been changed from Pigeon Forge\, TN to Gatlinburg\, TN to accommodate the larger number of attendees. \nLast Year\, several Beachcombers traveled to Pigeon Forge\, TN for the East Tennessee Corvette Clubs’ Vette Fest and a fabulous time was had by all. Due to the feedback following last year’s trip the Beachcombers plan is to go a day earlier and stay a day longer. The attached Flyer lists the tentative schedule. \nThe East Tennessee Corvette Club has a theme for their Vette Fest Event each year\, the theme for this year’s event is “CORVETTE PIRATES”. The time is now to begin thinking of what you’re going to wear\, I’m sure the Beachcomber Ladies will be planning A Beachcombers theme. \nJohn Kummers has agreed to lead the Beachcombers to Gatlinburg this year and has contacted the Skyline Village Inn located at 12255 N Carolina 226A\, Spruce Pine\, NC. SUMMARY:IMSA Racing at VIR | Aug. 26-28
DESCRIPTION:Several Beachcombers are fans of the Corvette racing and watching them race in person is an exciting experience and great way to show your support for the Corvette Racing Team. For the past several years the Beachcombers have traveled to VIR to enjoy the company of Corvette Racing Team fans and to watch the race from the Corvette Coral. \nOnce again VIR has graciously agreed to donate two Corvette Coral ticket packages for the IMSA Race weekend to the Beachcombers as a money maker for our Club. These packages will be raffled off later in the year. Plans are forthcoming for securing a hotel in the area for those interested in making this a weekend trip. \nEach Corvette Coral ticket package has a value of just under $300.00. If you’d like to have a chance of obtaining one of these ticket packages at a cost of $150.00 this is what you need to do; add your name to the “IMSA Race at VIR Sign-Up Sheet”. You can add your name in person at the July Business Meetings or contact me and I’ll add your name to the list. Everyone who’s name is on the Sign-Up Sheet will be placed in a hat for a drawing and two lucky winners will be drawn at the July Board Meeting and the winners will be notified. \nWe have 10 rooms blocked at the Quality Inn Reidsville located at 2203 Barnes Street\, Reidsville\, NC for August 26 & 27. You can call them directly at 1-336-634-1275 and let them know you wish to book one of the rooms blocked under the Beachcombers Corvette Club’s name\, to get the discounted rate of $100.00 + tax. These rooms are being held until August 12\, after which you will not get the reduced rate. \nWe’ll meet at Greenbrier Mall plan at 5:30 pm on Friday\, August 26 and stop as necessary along the way with a stop for dinner in Emporia enroute to the hotel.
