SUMMARY:2024 NCRS National Convention
DESCRIPTION:NCRS 2024 Hampton Roads\, VA National Convention\nAt our July 2nd Business Meeting\, Dwight Farmer was a guest speaker who was very knowledgeable about the NCRS and the upcoming convention.  I had the opportunity to sit next to him after the meeting while having dinner at Reginella’s.  I’d asked about which day(s) would be best to visit during the convention.  He said Tuesday or Wednesday.  Since Tuesday\, August 6th is our monthly business meeting\, it would be better to plan a day trip for Wednesday\, August 7th to visit the convention.  Reviewing the convention calendar (here) for Wednesday\, we’ll have a group arrive at the Convention Center before 9AM to park and enter.  Spend as long as we wish with a break for lunch possibly there or nearby; we can decide while there.  Also\, when ready to leave we can depart as a group or individually.  Considering traffic at the HRBT\, we should leave 2-3PM to head home.  For those wishing to go we can expect to pay $5.00/car to park and then $10/person donation to enter the Convention. No need to drive your corvette; of course\, unless you want to!  I’ve set up an RSVP (below) for the Wednesday\, August 7th visit. \nSouthside beachcombers can meet Bill Kaelin at 7:45AM behind the Bojangles at the Southern Shopping Center located at 7519 Tidewater Dr\, Norfolk\, VA 23505 (the near the interchange of I-64 and Tidewater Dr).  We’ll roll at 8:00AM and head to the convention center to hopefully arrive before 9AM. \nSuffolk beachcombers can meet Ed Bickham at 8:00AM the Applebee’s located at 103 Lake View Pkwy\, Suffolk\, VA 23435. \nOr… if you prefer\, just meet the group at the convention center at 9AM\, just let me know your choice so we can meet up upon arrival \nHere is a list of attendees for the day trip to the Convention on Wednesday\, August 7th: \n\nBill Kaelin\nEd Bickham\nJoe Walsh\nAl Plotnik\nRich Gatling\n\nThis list will be updated periodically.  This list last updated on August 6th. \n  \n \nNCRS will celebrate its 50th anniversary at the 2024 Convention in Hampton Roads and we are planning some very special events to honor this milestone\, including reflections on our long history from surviving founding members. A very special welcome reception is being planned\, more details to come later\, along with other surprises and activities. A special 50th anniversary remembrance will be given to all registrants. Don’t miss this milestone event\, registration opens February 1st.  A schedule of events is here. \nA city with an old soul and a youthful enthusiasm. A Coastal Virginia vacation destination with fascinating sites to see and interesting things to do. A convention city with flexible facilities and a confident\, can-do attitude. Situated in the middle of the Hampton Roads region and the heart of the Mid-Atlantic\, Hampton welcomes vacationers and meeting attendees alike with charming hospitality\, multifaceted attractions and activities and an atmosphere of discovery. \nConsidering Hampton’s coastal heritage\, fresh and local isn’t a trend. It’s a way of life. We were built on our connection with the sea and the local watermen and farmers who bring the freshest ingredients from the docks and farms to your table. From craft breweries to incredible family- and chef–operated restaurants to every fast food option imaginable\, you’ll never have the same meal twice. \nNCRS to Honor American Heritage Candidates and Previous Recipients at its 50th Anniversary National Convention in 2024\nAll current owners of Corvettes that previously received the prestigious NCRS American Heritage Award and candidates for that award in 2024 are invited to be part of a special display of these unique cars at the NCRS National Convention in August 2024. This will be the 50th anniversary of the 1974 founding of the NCRS. All participants will be honored by special placement in the show hall and they will be presented with a commemorative plaque to memorialize this display. \nPlan to enjoy all of these activities as well as some very special Corvette displays and unique Corvettes. Please register as soon as possible beginning February 1\, 2024 either online (greatly preferred and pay a discounted registration fee of $180!) or through the US mail. ($200). Be sure to attend this celebration it took 50 years to achieve. \nRegistration forms postmarked prior to February 1st\, 2024 or incomplete will not be processed and will be returned to the sender. Registration forms received in the Membership Office office after June 1st\, 2024\, will not be processed and will be returned to the sender. Registration for Road Tours must be entered no later than June 1st. Paper Registrations received after June 1st will not be processed and will be returned to the sender. After June 1st\, you may only register on-site at the convention and are subject to a $25 late fee. No car registrations will be accepted after June 1st\, 2024. \nEarly registrations will minimize the chances that your car will be wait-listed\, or that you will not be able to attend a particular event. The later you register\, the greater the chance of disappointment! \nConvention registrations will be confirmed by email (or mail if none exists).\nRegistration packets\, meal tickets\, shirts and name badges\, etc. must be picked up onsite at the NCRS Registration Desk. Please always wear your Convention name badge. It is required for admission to all NCRS Convention events. \nCancellation Information\nConvention and/or Judging Registration cancellations must be received in writing (US Mail\, fax or email – whatever is easiest for you) on or before June 1st\, 2024\, and will be subject to a $25 service charge. There will be no refunds for cancellations received after June 1st\, 2024. On that date\,we confirm all the tours\, meals\, etc. with our various vendors. If you cannot attend after that late date\, the NCRS is responsible for paying our vendors for anything you ordered: therefore\, no refunds. \nSpecial Cancellation Information\nSpecial Cancellation of all or part of a registration is available to members who are scheduled for a judging prerequisite in Marlboro\, MA (05/30-6/1\, 2024). If a member fails to achieve the prerequisite\, he/she will be permitted to cancel thru Monday\, June 3rd\, 2024. \nCovid Restrictions\nThe National Corvette Restorers Society\, Inc. (NCRS) will follow the mandates that are currently in place on that given day and at that given event location for all NCRS events as set forth by the United State Centers for Disease Control (CDC) or another branch of the US federal government\, Public Health Agency of Canada\, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control\, any host state and/or local government\, and/or a private host facility. \nThe above-mentioned rules will be followed at all NCRS events until such time that it is determined that they are no longer needed. \nConvention Contacts\nConvention Detail Questions (hall and events): MIke Ingham\nEmail (preferred method): michael.ingham248@gmail.com\nTelephone: (510) 501-6080 Pacific Time Zone \nConvention Detail Questions (hotel and food): Kristen Holmes\nEmail (preferred method): kristen.holmes@conferencedirect.com\nTelephone: (703) 283-2447 Eastern Time Zone \nTour Questions: Sherri Demmel\nEmail: (preferred): rdsqd2003@gmail.com\n\nJudging Questions: David Brigham\, National. Stay up to date with the Museum by subscribing to emails online here. \n2024 National Corvette Caravan – All roads lead to Bowling Green\, Kentucky for the 30th Anniversary of the National Corvette Museum \nYou will also need to register with the National Corvette Museum here (per person: Lifetime NCM Members – $50\, NCM Members – $60\, Non-members – $85).  Once registered the Museum should help with hotels in Bowling Green.  While in Bowling Green\, expect to check in on Wednesday\, August 28th\, checking out on Saturday (August 31st)\, Sunday (September 1st)\, or however long you wish to stay in the area.  Beachcombers who are going may organize a follow-on trip or arrange a group to drive home (more to follow). \nHere’s what I know…  REGISTER AND BOOK NOW!!! \nRegister for both the regional caravan and at the Museum with the links provided above.  Book your hotel night in Asheville\, NC.  Book your hotel night in Sevierville\, TN.  Book your nights in Bowling Green\, KY.  As we get closer BCC will announce what will follow as related to the drive home or another follow-on trip itinerary. \nOther Beachcombers have blazed the trail through the registrations and hotel bookings.  Regional Caravan information for hotels in Bowling Green\, KY\, Asheville\, NC and Sevierville\, TN is here.  Note also\, the hotels in Asheville\, NC also have the same rate for the Sunday night before (August 25th) for those who wish to start early!  I also believe that if you register at the Museum\, the registration package/email will help with room arrangements during your stay in Bowling Green. \nHeldur Liivak has booked the following: Monday\, August 26th in Asheville – the Double Tree by Hilton-Biltmore ($139 plus taxes and fees)\, Tuesday\, August 27th in Sevierville\, TN – Comfort Suites ($109 plus taxes and fees)\, Wed-Sun\, August 28th\, September 1st in Bowling Green KY – Hampton Inn ($247/night INCLUDING taxes and fees). SUMMARY:Queen City Corvette Club's 13th Annual Corvette Show
DESCRIPTION:Online registration is open.  You can visit the QCCC website in the blue box on this page under “ORGANIZER” and navigate the\n“QCCC Car Show +” link or here.  Online/pre-registration ends on October 10th.  Last year there were over 750 corvettes on display as part of the show!  Cost for the show on Saturday is $30\, VIP parking is $70 (limited to 50 spots).  The event flyer is here.  The QCCC website still does not list hotels/rates for this event as of September 7th.  At this late date\, there’s likely no host hotel or set or recommended hotels coming from the QCCC. \nLast year\, we used the Residence Inn as a place for Beachcombers.  Looking (here) for a check-in date of October 18th\, check-out of October 20th\, at the RESIDENCE INN (By Marriott) Charlotte / Concord located at 7601 Scott Padgett Parkway\, Concord\, NC\, there are only suites available. Refundable king suites are $189/night (member)\, $199/night (non-member); refundable double-queen suites are $237/night (member)\, $249/night (non-member).  The Residence Inn’s phone number is 1-704-454-7862 should you need to call them.  This year each is on their own for room accommodations. \nLooking at other hotel options for refundable rooms on September 7th at hotels.com for a check-in on October 18th and check-out on October 20th\, there are several within a few miles from the Hendrick Motorsports complex.  The search I used is here.  There’s a Sleep Inn with free breakfast with a rating of 7.6 for $134/night ($302 total).  Best rating is 8.4 and that’s for a Comfort Suites-Concord Mills for $165/night ($373 total).  The lowest price (5.4 rating) is the HomeTowne Studios & Suites by Red Roof for $70/night ($158 total).  There are other choices many of which are in the high $100s to low $200s per night. \nFor those traveling to the show\, there are currently 5 cars going (as of October 10th).  Three cars are leaving Thursday (the 17th) and two are leaving Friday.  If you decide to go\, let me know which day and I’ll connect you with those traveling that day so you can drive together.  IMPORTANT!  There is no longer a group meeting at Greenbrier Mall Friday morning.  Please contact me!   \nAlso know it’s nice to park as a group during the show.  To do so\, the group must arrive together to the show.  If you don’t\, there’s no way to reserve adjacent parking spots! \nFor the return trip\, Preston will not be returning to Virginia Beach on Sunday\, but for those wishing to have lunch Sunday at the Childress Vinyards (a favorite restaurant\, phone: 336-236-9463) which is located at 1000 Childress Vineyards Rd\, Lexington\, NC 27295. \nIf you plan to go\, please sign-up/RSVP below. \nHere is a list of Beachcombers (by car) who plan to attend: \n\nKaren and Dave Ambrose\nJan and Andrew Baillie\nPreston Powers\nAngie and Mike Stallworth\nLV and Tank Torain\n\nThis list will be update periodically.  This list last updated on September 12th.

SUMMARY:2024 Holiday/Christmas Party
DESCRIPTION:Our annual Holiday/Christmas party will once again be at the Hilton DoubleTree Hotel. We decided to not have a theme this year\, so traditional holiday party attire is in order. Our Beachcomber flyer is here. \nThe price is the same as last year.  $35/member\, $70/member-couple\, $60/non-members.  It is too late to RSVP on our website although RSVPs are still open below.  Please know we’ve already submitted our headcount and payment.  RSVPs will be turned off on noon on December 3rd.  If you have any questions\, after that please call me (Bill) at 757-343-4873.  If you have signed up but have not paid\, please bring your payment (cash\, or check made out to “Beachcombers Corvette Club”) to holiday party. \nAt 5:30PM we will have our check-in tables open outside of the ballroom.  All need to check in where we’ll get our raffle tickets\, 50/50 tickets\, and we can enter guess-the-count of candies.  Photos this year are going to be different.  Know the restaurant adjacent to the lobby is undergoing reservations.  As such\, they have a temporary area in the lobby where the 15ft tree is.  As such\, we won’t be able to use this area to take photos this year so as to not disturb the restaurant’s customers.  Therefore\, photos with a tree as a backdrop will not be in the lobby\, but in the ballroom.  There will be a 15ft tree in the front left corner.  So\, if you want pictures with the tree as your backdrop\, after check-in when doors open at 6:00PM\, head to that tree. \nKnow that the restaurant bar in the lobby is not part of the cash bar we have within the ballroom.  So please\, after the party starts\, fill you glass inside the ballroom after the doors open!  We get credit for purchases from the bar inside the ballroom.  We won’t get credit for purchases from the bar in the lobby.  When doors open at 6:00 will be when the cash bar opens at 6:00PM and hors d-oeuvres will start being served.  We have two selections: crispy vegetable lumpia and also bacon wrapped scallops.  Additionally\, there will be a stationary display with fruits and berries\, and international and domestic cheeses.  We will have a social hour from 6:00-7:00PM followed by our buffet dinner. \nOur buffet dinner includes:  Warm rolls & butter\, House Salad with ranch and balsamic dressing\, Oven Roasted Chicken Breast with Fontina Sherry Cream\, Salmon with a Teriyaki Drizzle\, Braised Short Ribs with our Signature Braising Sause\, Roast Garlic Mashed Potatoes\, Vegetable Medley\, Assortment of Mini Holiday Pick-up Desserts\, freshly brewed Regular & Decaffeinated Coffee\, and Unsweet Iced Tea.  There will also be a chef selections dessert bar\, as well as our own Beachcombers holiday cake! \nAfter dinner festivities include:  raffle prize drawings\, a left-right gift exchange\, an ugly sweater contest with prizes for best man and best woman).  There will be other surprises!  If participating in the left-right\, bring a wrapped/bagged gift with a value of approximately $30. \nAs last year\, we will have an after party on the 12th floor.  Bring snacks\, finger foods\, and beverages of your choosing.  No doubt we’ll be playing Left-Right-Center (LRC) so bring plenty of $1 bills! \nKnow the list below are for people who have signed up but not necessarily paid.  Payment needs to be made to our Treasurer\, Clay Beall. \nHere is a list of the Beachcombers and guests who have signed up on-line: \n\nBobbi Agner\nKaren Ambrose\nDave Ambrose\nAmbrose Guest – Marie Christine\nAmbrose Guest – Steve Christine\nMary Badali\nJoe Badali\nClay Beall\nCarolyn Bickham\nEd Bickham\nJeff Biggs\nCathy Carpenter\nJohn Carpenter\nGinnie Cooper\nGene Cooper\nSharon Cummings\nBuck Cummings\nBrenda Cutting\nSkip Cutting\nFrancine Deir\nEd Deir\nSandi Gatling\nRichard Gatling\nButch Glover\nNancy Harrington\nDale Harrington\nWarren Hiteshew\nDee Dee Hodges\nHoward Hodges\nDerrick Bull\nKristie Hollingsworth\nCynthia Jordan\nWendy Hanson – Sponsor – Wendy’s Embroidery\nBill Kaelin – Sponsor – Wendy’s Embroidery\nBrenda Kitchens – Sponsor – All In One Builders\nLarry Kitchens – Sponsor – All In One Builders\nTim Krehbiel\nTim Krehbiel – Guest\nFran Kummers\nJohn Kummers\nBeth Liivak\nHeldur Liivak\nAida Limcaoco\nBen Limcaoco\nConnie Miller\nTim Miller\nDebbie Orbach\nJake Orbach\nOrbach Guest – Vivian Zingarelli\nOrbach Guest – Lenny Zingarelli\nNickie Plotnik\nAl Plotnik\nPreston Powers\nLisa Quicke\nTom Quicke\nAnastasia Salonga – Sponsor – NAS Realty\nMike Salonga – Sponsor – NAS Realty\nBarbara Schultz\nPete Schultz\nKelly St.Clair\nSteve St.Clair\nEvan Stallings\nAngela Stallworth\nMichael Stallworth\nNancy Stephenson\nRobert Stephenson\nMichele Suttle\nPerry Suttle\nLV Torain\nTank Torain\nElaine Van Der Pol\nAndy Van Der Pol\nBailey Van Liew – Sponsor – Monster Clean\nDoug Van Liew – Sponsor – Monster Clean\nTerrie Wagoner\nKent Wagoner\nJoe Walsh\nPam Ware\nMike Ware\nMarge Wryk\nJoe Wryk\n\nHere are Sponsors who are attending (that are not Beachcombers): \n\nLendy’s Cafe – Guest #1\nLendy’s Cafe – Guest #2\n\nOther Sponsors who are not attending: \n\n \n\nThese lists will be updated periodically. SUMMARY:St Patrick's Day Parade
DESCRIPTION:The Norfolk St. Patrick’s Day Parade kicks off at 10:00 AM\, and it just might be the most exciting parade we participate in! Stretching over 1.5 miles\, the route is packed with an energetic and spirited crowd\, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of celebration. From lively crowds to festive green attire\, the enthusiasm is contagious at every turn. A dedicated police presence ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all\, allowing everyone to fully embrace the festivities. Rain or shine\, the parade marches on—so come ready to celebrate\, even if there’s a light drizzle! \nBeforehand\, we will be meeting between 8:15 AM and 8:30 AM at the Southern Shopping center behind the Bojangles (7519 Tidewater Drive\, Norfolk\, VA 23505) there you will be asked to sign our customary NCCC Waiver Form.  At 8:30 AM the Beachcombers will drive together (approximate 2 miles) and make a left on Westmont Avenue to our parade staging location.  We have the same staging location as we had last year:  “Section 2\, Position 43”.  As last year\, a very close street address to this is: 142 E Westmont Ave\, Norfolk\, VA 23503.  Once parked/staged\, we’ll decorate our cars and wait for our turn to start.  Although the parade steps off at 10:00AM\, it usually takes 1/2 hour before we roll.  The anticipation for all parade participants is quite exciting.  The parade route is on the back side of the flyer (red button on this page labeled “Download Flyer”.  You’ll see that when we roll\, we turn right onto Granby St and continue to the last left turn before E Ocean View Avenue and then another left onto First View Street where the parade ends shortly after. \nBy all means bring decorations for your car and wear attire appropriate as long as its green! \nOnce the parade is over\, you can head home or head to near the Columbian Club of Ocean View at 211 W Government Ave\, Norfolk\, VA 23503.  The club hosts an after party which starts after the parade is over (approximately noon) and ends at 4PM.  The after party is open to everyone who is 21 years of age or older.  The party serves water\, soda\, beer and wine; and there are food vendors.  There is an outdoor stage with a band.  There is also a band playing inside.  It’s a lot of fun!  The back side of the flyer also shows where the Columbian Club is located.  I’ll provide a map to the after-party. \nBelow is a list of cars with Driver and Passenger names: \nList of cars going: \n\n\n\n \nName\n \n\n\n1\nDave Ambrose\nKaren\n\n\n2\nPatrick H.
