Spend the night in or near Tazewell. \nApril 22nd (Day 2): Depart Tazewell and drive to the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort\, Kentucky.  While at Buffalo Trace\, plan to visit their gift shop to purchase the premium bourbon of the day. Spend the night in or near Frankfort. \nApril 23rd (Day 3): Return to Buffalo Trace to purchase the premium bourbon of the day before heading to Louisville\, Kentucky. Drive to Michter’s Distillery for a tour and tasting followed by a drive to Angel’s Envy Distillery for a tour and tasting. Spend the night in or near Louisville. \nApril 24th (Day 4):  Leave Louisville and drive to Deals Gap\, North Carolina. This will include a drive of the Tail of the Dragon. SUMMARY:IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship - Rolex 24 at Daytona
DESCRIPTION:Below is information for those who which to travel with fellow Beachcombers down to Daytona Beach\, Florida for the Rolex 24. \nThe group will be leaving on the morning of Tuesday and Wednesday\, January 21st and 22nd at 7:30AM from Greenbrier Mall in the parking lot next to Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant.  From there\, they will meet other beachcombers the Truckstop on Route 58 around 8AM and to Emporia and then south on I-95.  They will stop at Buckee’s in Florence\, SC and then onto Savannah\, Georgia to spend the night at the Iris Garden Inn.  Hotels.com (here) has the Inn’s rates for this night (as of January 13th) at $72 for a single King room ($88 with taxes and fees) or a double room for $80 ($97 with taxes and fees).  These rates are fully refundable before January 23rd.  Information about the Iris Garden inn is here.  The hotel’s phone number is 912-777-5002.  The hotel’s address is: 347 Main St.\, Savannah\, GA 31408. \nThe group will leave Savannah on the morning of Thursday\, January 27th and head to Daytona Beach\, Florida.  The group stay at the Lotus Boutique Inn & Suites located at 505 S. SUMMARY:Queen City Corvette Club's 13th Annual Corvette Show
DESCRIPTION:Online registration is open.  You can visit the QCCC website in the blue box on this page under “ORGANIZER” and navigate the\n“QCCC Car Show +” link or here.  Online/pre-registration ends on October 10th.  Last year there were over 750 corvettes on display as part of the show!  Cost for the show on Saturday is $30\, VIP parking is $70 (limited to 50 spots).  The event flyer is here.  The QCCC website still does not list hotels/rates for this event as of September 7th.  At this late date\, there’s likely no host hotel or set or recommended hotels coming from the QCCC. \nLast year\, we used the Residence Inn as a place for Beachcombers.  Looking (here) for a check-in date of October 18th\, check-out of October 20th\, at the RESIDENCE INN (By Marriott) Charlotte / Concord located at 7601 Scott Padgett Parkway\, Concord\, NC\, there are only suites available. SUMMARY:Vettes versus the Dragon
DESCRIPTION:This year’s event has sold out.  Next year’s dates will be announced later this year.\nVettes versus the Dragon and Smoky Mountain Drives are sponsoring an event in the area surrounding the famous “Tail of the Dragon”.  This 3-day corvette-only rain-or-shine event includes over 600 miles of epic mountain driving.  A link to their Facebook page is here.  If you wish to drive with the group\, you can register here.  Tickets are $199 for car and driver which includes a catered dinner on Friday\, a Vettes versus the Dragon T-shirt\, event packet with detailed route map\, and more.  For a passenger\, the cost is $30 which includes the T-shirt and Friday dinner.  The event is limited to 100 corvettes\, and you must provide a valid Driver’s License\, proof of Insurance and be 18 years or older to drive.  To see what the drive is about\, click the link here. \nThe host hotel is the Fontana Village Resort (see the blue box under “VENUES” also has their phone number).  There is a discounted rate for your stay.  To receive the discount\, you must call the hotel’s reception desk and mention you’re with the group. \nThere are driving events starting Friday morning\, throughout Saturday\, and 1/2 the day on Sunday.  There is a Thursday night check-in as well as Friday morning.  Friday after driving the welcome dinner will be at 129 HUB known as the “Dragon Welcome Center” (see the blue box under “VENUES”).  After driving on Saturday\, there will be a bonfire at the resort.  Sunday being a shorter day\, about 1/2 the group leaves for the commute home. \nBeachcombers will meet at Greenbrier Mall Thursday morning (time to be determined) for the 8+ hour 500+ mile drive to the Resort.  Beachcombers who are interested can help decide to stay Sunday night or check out and drive home.  At a minimum it would be a 3-night Stay checking in on Thursday and checking out on Sunday. \nPlease RSVP below and let me know your plans to help organize the group’s travel.  If you make room reservations at the resort\, please let me know the discount.  A check at hotels.com has the resort’s rate at $147/night during this period. \nHere is a list by car of Beachcombers who are planning to go: \n\nJohn Clyburn\nConnie and Tim Miller\n\nThis list will be updated periodically.  This list last updated on June 25th. \n

DESCRIPTION:Often referred to as the world’s largest moving automotive event\, the National Corvette Caravan is a celebration of America’s Sports Car\, culminating in Bowling Green\, Kentucky for the anniversary celebration of the National Corvette Museum. Hosted only once every five years\, the next event is slated for Labor Day Weekend 2024 and will mark the Museum’s 30th Anniversary. \nHere is a YouTube link to get a glimpse of what this event is about!!!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL0IOmdJwuA. \nIf you’re interested in joining the Caravan event\, you can register with our region’s caravan.  We are part of the North Carolina\, South Carolina\, Virginia and Maryland region. Below is the itinerary for our region: \n\nMonday August 26\, 2024: Asheville NC. Registration packet pickup. Evening Meet and Greet.\nTuesday August 27\, 2024: Asheville NC. Registration packet pickup. Lunch at Deer Park Inn at the Biltmore. DESCRIPTION:In the past\, the Beachcombers have had as many as 12 cars make this trip!  It’s a nice event with a Friday night dinner and party.  Saturday is the car show with 250-300 Corvettes. DESCRIPTION:The Coastal Carolina Corvette Club is hosting their annual event.  The link to their upcoming 2024 car show event is here.  Know that on-line registration is open. DESCRIPTION:Below is information for those who which to travel with fellow Beachcombers down to Daytona Beach\, Florida for the Rolex 24. \nThe group will be leaving on the morning of Wednesday\, January 24th at 7:30AM from Greenbrier Mall in the parking lot next to Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant.  From there\, they will meet other beachcombers the Truckstop on Route 58 around 8AM and to Emporia and then south on I-95.  They will stop at Buckee’s in Florence\, SC and then onto Savannah\, Georgia to spend the night at the Iris Garden Inn.  Hotels.com (here) has the Inn’s rates for this night (as of January 13th) at $72 for a single King room ($88 with taxes and fees) or a double room for $80 ($97 with taxes and fees).  These rates are fully refundable before January 23rd.  Information about the Iris Garden inn is here.  The hotel’s phone number is 912-777-5002.  The hotel’s address is: 347 Main St.\, Savannah\, GA 31408. \nThe group will leave Savannah on the morning of Thursday\, January 25th and head to Daytona Beach\, Florida.  The group stay at the Lotus Boutique Inn & Suites located at 505 S. SUMMARY:Queen City Corvette Club's 12th Annual Corvette Show
DESCRIPTION:QUEEN CITY CORVETTE CLUB – CAR SHOW\nThe Queen City Corvette Club (QCCC) of Charlotte will be hosting their 2023 car show to be held in Charlotte\, NC at the Hendrick Motorsports complex and usually has 400+ Corvettes! \nRegistration is open!  In addition to registering for the show for $30\, you can also purchase VIP parking at the show’s center for an additional $30.  The link to register is here. \nAlso\, this year there are two separate tours at the Hendrick Motor sport complex.  The first tour is at the Hendrick Heritage Center to see Rick’s car collection which lasts about 1 hour.  Tickets are $30 each.  The second tour is at the Race Shop and Engine Shop for his 4 cars: the #5\, #9\, #24\, and #48.  Tickets are $30 each.  The link to these tickets is here. \n           Below are some suggestions on where to stay and things to do while in the Charlotte area in addition to the Car Show.  On Saturday\, the Car Show is scheduled for registration to open at 8:00 am and at 2:00 pm is the presentation of awards which should allow time for other things to do on Friday evening and Saturday after the show (suggestions below). \n\n            HOTEL: A hotel has been chosen where the price is more affordable than the host hotel\, it is centrally located and is only a mile from the Car Show venue.  The hotel is the RESIDENCE INN (By Marriott) Charlotte / Concord located at 7601 Scott Padgett Parkway\, Concord\, NC.  There is no block of rooms!  The hotel recommends for everyone to go online and book their own room.  There is a Senior Rate (62 and older) of $135.00 (+tax) per night\, breakfast included.  The Residence Inn’s phone number is 1-704-454-7862 should you need to call them. \n            Obviously\, you can stay wherever you wish but if we’re all at the same hotel we can socialize in the lobby in the evenings\, which in the past has always proven to be a fun time. \n            HEAD COUNT: For the Ghost Tour (see below) and dining reservations it’s imperative we know how many travelers there will be.  To keep the organizers informed of the number of people traveling on this outing please sign-up on the BCC Website\, sign-up at the September or October BCC Business Meeting\, or contact me.  This will be the count used for determining the tour size and cost and for making group lunch and dinner reservations. \n            PLANNING: We’ll depart from Greenbrier Mall on Friday\, October 20 at about 10:00 am and proceed to the Residence Inn\, which is about 300 miles away\, about a five-hour drive.  Naturally there will be ample convenience stops along the way as well as a lunch stop.  After checking in at the hotel we’ll head to the Mount Pleasant SMOKEHOUSE for dinner before the tour. \nOTHER THINGS TO DO \n            GHOST TOUR: Earlier this year the Beachcombers traveled to the Southern Grace Distillery which is in an out-of-use prison about two miles outside of Mount Pleasant\, NC for a tour and sampling of their Conviction Bourbon.  While we were there\, we learned that the distillery is haunted.  We also learned that they offer nighttime paranormal tours which sounds interesting for everyone.  We’ve obtained a private tour for the BCC on Friday night; DESCRIPTION:Buckle up race fans! The IMSA WeatherTech Championship is ready for another exciting race weekend at the historic Virginia International Raceway. August 25th to 27th is your chance to witness the riveting spectacle and feel nearly 600 HP thunder in your chest as we celebrate this one-of-a-kind event. However\, the racing fuel that tingles your nose down by the pits is not all that IMSA at VIR has to offer. Relax with some refreshment at the Oak Tree Tavern\, hang out on the Skid Pad with the top-notch vendors and striking car corrals or feed your inner adrenaline junkie at 50 mph down at the go-kart track. As the sun paints the sky in the evening\, take in the beauty of all 1300 acres as they frame the track that we at VIR call home. You can purchase VIR tickets here. \nWe have 8 non-smoking rooms available at the Quality Inn\, Roxboro\, NC (Address is: 906 Durham Rd\, Roxboro\, NC 27573) for Friday and Saturday night. You can call the Inn at (336) 599-3800. Use either my name or Beachcombers Corvette Club to reserve your room. Two double beds\, microwave\, mini-fridge\, and coffee maker. Rates are $162 Friday\, $171.55 Saturday. Both nights total with taxes and fees ($44.53) is $378.08.  Please book by August 22nd. \nBeachcombers\, on Friday August 25th plan to meet at Greenbrier Mall at 5:30 pm\, adjacent to Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant. The driving time to the Quality Inn from the Greenbrier Mall is about 3 hours 20 minutes. DESCRIPTION:A BCC favorite!  Last year we brought more than 25 cars to help us celebrate the BCC 40th anniversary.  Here is a link to the Carlisle event: Corvettes at Carlisle.
