DESCRIPTION:Below is information for those who which to travel with fellow Beachcombers down to Daytona Beach\, Florida for the Rolex 24. \nThe group will be leaving on the morning of Tuesday and Wednesday\, January 21st and 22nd at 7:30AM from Greenbrier Mall in the parking lot next to Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant.  From there\, they will meet other beachcombers the Truckstop on Route 58 around 8AM and to Emporia and then south on I-95.  They will stop at Buckee’s in Florence\, SC and then onto Savannah\, Georgia to spend the night at the Iris Garden Inn.  Hotels.com (here) has the Inn’s rates for this night (as of January 13th) at $72 for a single King room ($88 with taxes and fees) or a double room for $80 ($97 with taxes and fees).  These rates are fully refundable before January 23rd.  Information about the Iris Garden inn is here.  The hotel’s phone number is 912-777-5002.  The hotel’s address is: 347 Main St.\, Savannah\, GA 31408. \nThe group will leave Savannah on the morning of Thursday\, January 27th and head to Daytona Beach\, Florida.  The group stay at the Lotus Boutique Inn & Suites located at 505 S. DESCRIPTION:Corvettes at Carlisle has long been a BCC favorite.  If you plan to go\, the 3-day fun field pass\, the cost is $85. \nA link to the main Corvettes at Carlisle web page is here. \nA link to purchase fun-field tickets is here.  When filling out the form\, don’t forget to use the dropdown titled: “Corvette Club” and select: “BEACHCOMBERS CORVETTE CLUB OF VIRGINIA”.  This allows the organizers to count our club member attendance.  If we get at least 25 cars attending\, we’ll receive free use of a 20ft x 20ft tent.  Please RSVP below to let us know you’re going!  This way we can organize activities while in Carlisle.  Many who go purchase special parking on the fun field.  If we don’t get a free-use tent\, then we’ll meet near those who purchase this special parking.  I’ll update here when we know the location where to meet.  Know we have the same two vendor spots as last year:  A11 and A12. \nI plan to drive my pickup truck and trailer my Corvette.  As such\, I’ll have some space to bring items to and from Carlisle.  If you wish me to carry for-sale or purchased items (no luggage)\, please contact me.  My truck has an 8ft bed.  I do have a tonneau cover but cannot guarantee the bed will be watertight\, so keep this in mind. SUMMARY:Black Hills Corvette Classic
DESCRIPTION:Several club members will be heading to South Dakota!  Ed Bickham of our club spoke at the February business meeting discussing this event.  The Black Hills Corvette Club (BHCC) hosts an annual event which is a drive across South Dakota!  The event starts on the east side of South Dakota in Souix Falls on Wednesday with events all day from 9:00AM-10:00PM\, Thursday is the drivers meeting at 7:30AM.  The caravan starts at 8:00AM to begin the 390-mile drive across the state to Spearfish on the west side of South Dakota.  Arriving around 2:00PM there is hotel registration at the Holiday Inn until 5:00PM and then festivities at the hotel continue through 9:00PM.  On Friday\, there are guided and self-guided tours\, a poker run\, auto cross\, a mystery brunch run\, with vendors all day.  The evening has a “Vette Street USA” in downtown Spearfish with a car show\, entertainment\, and plenty of food and drink. Then on Saturday\, more guided and self-guided tours\, a poker run\, a dyno challenge\, 70’s Corvette showcase with lunch\, vendors all day\, culminating with an evening awards banquet and farewell party.  A link describing this is here.  Also Motor Trend has a webpage for this event when it was held in 2018 including a video and photos.  The webpage is here. Whew! \nIf interested\, this link also has their registration and accommodations for both in Souix Falls and Spearfish.  He’s been planning the hotel arrangements prior to this event to get us from here in Southeast Virgina to Souix Falls.  There is some urgency here since the Holiday Inn in Spearfish is expected to sell out by the end of February.  You would need to book this early and hope they still have rooms.  A link to the Holiday Inn’s contract for the stay during this event in Spearfish is here.  The contract identifies the stay is not refundable after March 1st when they charge for the first night of the stay. \nOverall\, with the drive to Souix Falls and then the drive back from Spearfish after the event it’s a 9 or more days round trip from here in Southeast Virginia.  Ed is our lead for this event.  For more information contact him at 757-434-3046.

SUMMARY:Eastern Shore Getaway
DESCRIPTION:Hello Beachcombers!  Several things are set for our weekend getaway in the Easton/St. Michael’s area on the Maryland Eastern Shore.  We will be staying at the Quality Inn in Easton (in the blue box under “VENUES”).  Easton is north approximately a 3hr 10min drive from Virginia Beach over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel then up Route 13 to Route 50.  Easton is on Route 50.  St. Michaels is 15 miles west of Easton.  We will be visiting the St. Michael’s Classic Motor Museum on Saturday morning for their cars and coffee (free)\, followed by a tour of their museum ($10/person).  We will also (hopefully) be taking a 65-minute historical cruise on the “Patriot” on Saturday afternoon at 2:30PM (approximately $25/person).  These attractions are discussed in the itinerary as well as dining\, shopping\, and other sightseeing possibilities. \nFor hotel booking\, call the Quality Inn at 410-820-8333 and mention the “Beachcombers Corvette Club”.  The 2-night stay will be $90/night plus taxes and fees which is $9\, so the total is $198.  If you decide to go\, not only get the room at the hotel but sign-up via RSVP below.  You can also contact me to sign up.  Know to receive this rate\, you must book prior to March 26th. \nWe will meet on Friday\, April 26th at the Kroger (in the blue box under “VENUES”) on Shore Drive next to their fuel center at 10:00AM.  We will depart Kroger at 10:15AM and proceed north over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.  We’ll stop for lunch at 12:30PM at the LongHorn Steakhouse in Salisbury MD.  After lunch we’ll head to Easton and arrive at the hotel at 3:00PM. \nOn Sunday after we check out those can proceed to their next adventure\, or just head home.  For those heading home\, some may wish to stop at the Bordeleau Vineyard and Winery.  We should be back at the Kroger on Shore Drive by 4:30PM. \nI’ve uploaded my preliminary itinerary (here) with all of the details mentioned above.  Know the itinerary is preliminary and will change as we get close.  It’s just to help you decide if you’re interested in this weekend getaway.  If you wish to help research our weekend\, let me know your ideas! \nHere is a list of Beachcombers (listed by car) that are going: \n\nWendy Hanson and Bill Kaelin\nNickie and Al Plotnik\nFran and John Kummers\nFrancine and Ed Deir\nBrenda and Skip Cutting\nSandi and Richard Gatling\nSandy and Mike Pristas\nBarbara and Pete Schultz\n\n  \nThis list will be updated periodically.  This list last updated on April 3rd. \n

DESCRIPTION:Below is information for those who which to travel with fellow Beachcombers down to Daytona Beach\, Florida for the Rolex 24. \nThe group will be leaving on the morning of Wednesday\, January 24th at 7:30AM from Greenbrier Mall in the parking lot next to Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant.  From there\, they will meet other beachcombers the Truckstop on Route 58 around 8AM and to Emporia and then south on I-95.  They will stop at Buckee’s in Florence\, SC and then onto Savannah\, Georgia to spend the night at the Iris Garden Inn.  Hotels.com (here) has the Inn’s rates for this night (as of January 13th) at $72 for a single King room ($88 with taxes and fees) or a double room for $80 ($97 with taxes and fees).  These rates are fully refundable before January 23rd.  Information about the Iris Garden inn is here.  The hotel’s phone number is 912-777-5002.  The hotel’s address is: 347 Main St.\, Savannah\, GA 31408. \nThe group will leave Savannah on the morning of Thursday\, January 25th and head to Daytona Beach\, Florida.  The group stay at the Lotus Boutique Inn & Suites located at 505 S. SUMMARY:44th Annual Vette Fest
DESCRIPTION:You are cordially invited to spend a Corvette Enthusiast’s Dream Weekend attending the 44th Annual Vette Fest\, in the heart of Tennessee’s beautiful Smoky Mountains.  Vette Fest is hosted by the East Tennessee Corvette Club (ETCC) as a Fund-Raising event for our Children’s and Veteran’s charities. \nWe hope you will join us\, and hopefully 200+ other Vette owners from across our nation. The 2023 Glenstone Lodge venue (same as 2022) provides a Large Meeting area\, and adds the excitement of Downtown Gatlinburg\, TN.  Vette Fest is a casual dress (jeans\, etc.). Very light snacks and beverages will be provided in evenings.  The Glenstone has a NEW Lobby Restaurant for 2023 serving Breakfast and Dinner. Several Restaurants offer Hotel Delivery and plenty of Restaurants within walking distance. \nThe 2022 “Pirate’s Cruse” Vette Fest had 157 Folks Registered and 18 Corvette Clubs Represented.  We expect at least that number in 2023.  The 2023 Vette Fest Theme will be “Summer of 69”!  We will kick-off the 2023 weekend with a Groovy Meet-&-Greet on Friday night to talk with old friends and make new friends. \nSaturday morning\, we will start with an “All For Fun” Corvette Show to check out everyone’s cars. DESCRIPTION:In the past\, the Beachcombers have had as many as 12 cars make this trip!  It’s a nice event with a Friday night dinner and party.  Saturday is the car show with 250-300 Corvettes. SUMMARY:IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship - Rolex 24 Hour Daytona
DESCRIPTION:Daytona International Speedway\nThis is about the time of year when we begin thinking (and planning) for the Beachcombers annual migration to Daytona Beach\, FL for the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA. This 24-hour sports car endurance race is held annually and kicks off the new IMSA Weather Tech SportsCar Championship season. There are traditionally around sixty cars in the field competing for the overall victory as well as four different classes. Each team trades shifts between three and five drivers. Types of cars include Porsches\, Ferraris\, Corvettes\, Mazda\, Fords\, Lamborghinis\, Lexus and Cadillac. For those new to the Beachcombers\, we have made this multi-day road trip for several years and have always had a good time. If IMSA racing is something you enjoy or is something you’d like to learn more about\, you won’t be disappointed by attending this race. The weather can be unpredictable\, but we’ve always managed to make the best of it and the race still goes on. The current plan is to depart for Daytona on Thursday\, January 26 and drive to Savannah GA\, where we’ll spend the night and then drive into Daytona on Friday\, January 27. Rooms have been blocked at the Iris Garden Inn in Savannah and at the Super 8 in Daytona Beach\, FL\, under the Beachcombers Corvette Club name.\n\nTo reserve a room at the Iris Garden Inn for Thursday January 26\, call 1-912-777-5002 and ask for one of the rooms reserved for the Beachcombers Corvette Club at the rate of $79.00 (plus tax).\n\nTo reserve a room at the Super 8 call 386-255-5540 and tell them you wish to reserve one of the rooms blocked for the Beachcombers Corvette Club. The room rate at the Super 8 is $649.00 plus tax for the 3-night stay. This is more than we usually pay but because this being a race weekend room rates are extremely high.\n\nTo take advantage of the above rates you must reserve your rooms prior to November 30\, 2022. \nAfter that the above room rates will not apply. On January 30\, after checking out of the hotel you’re on your own as some may be taking side trips to other adventures and others heading directly back home.
