SUMMARY:Neptune Festival Parade
DESCRIPTION:We’re participating in the Neptune Festival Grand Parade at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront again this year.  We have room for 15 cars. SUMMARY:Oceana Air Show
DESCRIPTION:For many years\, the Beachcombers have been supporting the Virginia Patriot Guard Riders with their vignette at the Oceana Air Show.  This year will be like last year with our cars on the Tarmac each day of the air show as part of the “Static Display”.  We will be adjacent to where the VPG will have their motorcycles (left/southwest of show center).  We will be escorting women in aviation in our cars each day of the air show.  Knowing the Oceana Air show website (here) indicates the air show is Saturday and Sunday.  There is also an air show on Friday.  The Friday air show is not open to the public.  It is open only to DOD members\, their families\, and 5th graders from local schools.  As of now\, we will open the air show each day.  Our vignette will start between 10-10:30AM and should be finished around 11:00AM.  After the vignette\, you can leave NAS Oceana\, or return to the static display and watch the air show.  If you will be able to leave before the end of the air show. \nLt. DESCRIPTION:Join our friends from the Old Dominion Corvette Club of Sterling Virginia for their 34th Annual All Corvette Cruise in at Bomnin Chevrolet in Manassas Virginia.  Pre-registration is $15.00 (before August 11th\, link is below).  Day of Show is $20.  This is a rain or shine event.  Proceeds to benefit LAWS Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services\, Prince WIlliam County Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children\, and the National Corvette Museum.  All entrants to receive a dash plaque and door prize ticket.  There will be a DJ\, Food Trucks\, Silent Auction\, 50/50 raffle and more. \nIt’s a 3 to 3-1/2 hour drive from Virginia Beach to the Bomnin dealership.  Could be just a long one-day trip to participate in the show. \nYou can pre-register at the website address in the blue “DETAILS” box on this page which is also here. \nIf you’re interested\, please let me know!

SUMMARY:12th Annual Extortion 17 Ride
DESCRIPTION:We will be participating in this annual ride.  The Virginia Patriot Guard (VPG) organizes this event every year.  We have the Virginia Beach Police escort the ride which encircles Virginia Beach.  We start at Lendy’s Cafe.  There we will have a brief ceremony with an Honor Guard\, singing the National Anthem\, a benediction\, and the Frogmen MC will be reading the names of the 30 soldiers\, Sailors\, Airmen and 1 Military Working Dog who gave their ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom.  For those who do not know Extortion 17 refers to the call sign used for the helicopter transporting special ops personnel which was shot down over Afghanistan on August 6th\, 2011.  Here is a link to a good write up about this tragedy.  Once the ride is over\, you can go or stay at Lendy’s Cafe for lunch and beverages. \nKnow that we may be asked to carry gold star family members\, so let me know if you will have an empty seat or not.  The VPG is also asking how many of us are going to stay after the ride to have lunch at Lendy’s.  They are blocking off parking area in front of Lendy’s for when we return from the ride. \nA link to the VPG Mission Orders detailing the event is here. \nThis will be a rain or shine event and we have room for 20 cars.  Please sign up below before August 2nd! \nBelow is a list of participants: \n\nWendy Hanson and Bill Kaelin\nTom Quicke and Joey Fontana\nPatrick Nolan and Ramiro Satizabal\nJohn Kummers\nMarge and Joe Wryk\nPreston Powers\nTerrie and Kent Wagoner\nKaren and Dave Ambrose\n\nThis list will be updated periodically.  This list was last updated on August 3rd. \n

SUMMARY:Bring Your Own Lunch
DESCRIPTION:Join us at noon at Elizabeth River Park located on the southern branch of the Elizabeth River.  The park has one of the most active boat ramps in the Hampton Roads area.  Adjacent to the park is the new South Norfolk Jordan Bridge which has a maximum height of 169 feet. \nThere is no RSVP/sign-up for this event\, just show up.  Once you go over the railroad crossing\, turn left to enter the park then head for the Snack Shack next to the boat ramp.  Park at the pavilion at the Snack Shack.  The Snack Shack should be open for concessions\, and bait and tackle. Hours of operation are Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday from 9AM-5PM.  However\, plan on your own lunch and not rely on the Shack for your meal. \nAs of now\, the event is a go. Pack your favorite lunch and beverage and we’ll see you there!

SUMMARY:Zip Corvette Customer Appreciation Day
DESCRIPTION:Our Cruise to Zip event will be for their Customer Appreciation Day which is Saturday May 6th. While there\, all receive 10% off of purchases in their showroom.  Zip opens their campus to Corvettes and offers free food and drink.  We follow up with our own luncheon at the Roma Restaurant near the Zip Corvette campus at 1PM before heading home. \nWe will meet at Greenbrier Mall at 9AM and roll at 9:15AM.  We’ll also stop at the rest stop on I-64 at mile marker 214 at 10:30AM to meet any additional BCC members.  We will leave the rest stop at 10:45AM.  We anticipate arrival at the Zip Corvette campus at 11:15AM.  For those wishing to attend lunch at Roma Restaurant\, we will leave Zip Corvette at 12:45PM with lunch starting at 1PM.  This is a sign-up event. SUMMARY:NATO Parade of Nations
DESCRIPTION:Come join the Beachcombers as we participate in the annual NATO Parade of Nations in downtown Norfolk on Saturday\, April 22\, 2023.  This is the longest continuously running parade in Hampton Roads and the only parade in the United States honoring NATO!  Over 100 Parade Units with local and visiting high school bands\, U.S. and International Military bands\, and colorful floats which represent each of the NATO Member Nations! Local community organization and Festival partners are also featured.  This is a rain-or-shine event. \nWe will meet at 7:45AM at the Best Buy Parking lot on Independence Blvd. in Virginia Beach just off of I-264.  The Best Buy address is to the left under “VENUE”.  We will roll from Best Buy between 8AM and 8:15AM to Norfolk to stage for the parade.  We will be staging in the parking lot of Harbor Park. DESCRIPTION:Join us at noon at Bayville Farms Park which is a 68-acre park established in 1978 through the cooperative efforts of the City of Virginia Beach\, the National Park Service\, and Virginia’s Department of Conservation and Recreation.  The park includes an 18-hole disc golf course\, which was the first of its kind in Virginia Beach. \nThere is no RSVP/sign-up for this event\, just show up.  The park has construction work on the north side (closest to Shore Drive)\, so we’ll meet at the southernmost pavilion where parking is close by.  There are two entrances to the park from First Court Road so turn into the southernmost driveway away from the construction which is the entrance for the disk golf course.  If the weather isn’t good\, come back to see if this event is still on. \nAs of now\, the event is a go. SUMMARY:St. Patrick's Day Parade
DESCRIPTION:We will be meet at the parking lot of Best Buy off of Independence Blvd. in Virginia Beach between 8:00 – 8:15 AM.  From there we will depart at 8:30AM and drive to the “Section 2\, Position 43” staging area to arrive before 9:00AM for the parade. Section 2 staging is near the intersection of E Westmont Ave and Stratford St.  Here is a close address to where we stage in Section 2: 142 E Westmont Ave\, Norfolk\, VA\, 23503.  The parade starts at 10am and is a rain-or-shine event! \nKnow there is a 10-car limit for the parade.  For those who sign up as the 11th car or after\, you will be on stand-by.  Should an opening occur\, I’ll let you know! \nAs of Thursday\, March 16th here are the list of parade participants: \n\nMike Ware\nPatrick Nolan\nKristie Hollingsworth\nJeff Biggs\nBob Bray\nMichele Suttle\nMack Coppage\nBill Kaelin and Wendy Hanson\n \n \n\nWe are short two cars to fill out our 10 for the parade.  So if anyone wishes to participate\, please contact me! \nBy all means bring decorations for your car and wear attire appropriate as long as its green! \nHere is the list of alternates: \n\n \n\nWe have no stand-by/alternates at this time. \nOnce the parade is over\, there is an after party at the Columbian Club of Ocean View at 211 W Government Ave\, Norfolk\, VA 23503.  The after party starts after the parade (approximately noon) and ends at 4PM.  The after party is open to everyone who is 21 years of age or older. \nAs I learn more about how to configure event RSVPs\, I’ve re-opened the sign-ups for this event. This is to allow a way for last minute changes to attendees.  Before I re-opened this event there was no way for attendees to have unforeseen reasons to indicate they can no longer attend.  Now you can go back to your RSVP(s) and indicate “Not Going” should you be unable to attend. SUMMARY:Valentine's Day Fun Run
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for our annual Valentine’s Day Fun Run!  This year we’ll be heading to the Surf Rider in Poquoson\, VA.  Southside BCC members and guests will meet at the old Sears Parking lot at the Greenbrier Mall (located at 1401 Greenbrier Parkway S\, Chesapeake\, VA 23320) at 11:00AM.  We will roll at 11:15AM and head to meet our West Side BCC members at Buckroe Beach (located at: 100 S 1st St.\, Hampton\, VA 23664) at 12:00 noon.  We will depart 12:15pm as a group for a drive through Hampton and Poquoson with a route to be determined.  We will arrive at the Surf Rider at 1PM for our luncheon.  Afterwards at approximately 3PM we will depart the Restaurant.  After the luncheon\, there is no longer plans to visit a wine or beer taste room. \nThe link to the Surf Rider menu is here. \nAlso\, when signing up\, please move the slider “Show me on the public attendee list” so that your initials show up on this event page! \nPlease RSVP by noon on Saturday\, February 4th!

SUMMARY:Not a Mystery - Mystery Cruise
DESCRIPTION:Come and join us for the First Mystery Cruise of 2023.  We are letting you know where we are ending this time.  Open to all clubs and members!  All makes and models! \nHall Chevrolet in Chesapeake will be hosting us with an open parking lot\, and your CCCHR will be providing lunch and refreshments! Our rout will be provided in the morning before we depart. \nThis is a great way to meet new friends\, get your car/truck out of winter storage and have some fun. \nWe will meet at Greenbrier Mall at 0930 in front of the old Sears\, with a departure at 1000 for our destination.  Come with a full tank of fuel.  The trip will be approximately 2 hours one way to our destination.  We will divide up into groups of 5-7 cars with a lead car who is responsible for that group. \nThe Mystery Cruise will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.  This is a Sunshine only event!!!
