DESCRIPTION:Join us at noon at Bayville Farms Park which is a 68-acre park established in 1978 through the cooperative efforts of the City of Virginia Beach\, the National Park Service\, and Virginia’s Department of Conservation and Recreation.  The park includes an 18-hole disc golf course\, which was the first of its kind in Virginia Beach. \nThere is no RSVP/sign-up for this event\, just show up.  The park has construction work on the north side (closest to Shore Drive)\, so we’ll meet at the southernmost pavilion where parking is close by.  There are two entrances to the park from First Court Road so turn into the southernmost driveway away from the construction which is the entrance for the disk golf course.  If the weather isn’t good\, come back to see if this event is still on. \nAs of now\, the event is a go. Pack your favorite lunch and beverage and we’ll see you there!

SUMMARY:NATO Parade of Nations
DESCRIPTION:Come join the Beachcombers as we participate in the annual NATO Parade of Nations in downtown Norfolk on Saturday\, April 22\, 2023.  This is the longest continuously running parade in Hampton Roads and the only parade in the United States honoring NATO!  Over 100 Parade Units with local and visiting high school bands\, U.S. and International Military bands\, and colorful floats which represent each of the NATO Member Nations! Local community organization and Festival partners are also featured.  This is a rain-or-shine event. \nWe will meet at 7:45AM at the Best Buy Parking lot on Independence Blvd. in Virginia Beach just off of I-264.  The Best Buy address is to the left under “VENUE”.  We will roll from Best Buy between 8AM and 8:15AM to Norfolk to stage for the parade.  We will be staging in the parking lot of Harbor Park. The time we meet at Best Buy has changed from 8AM to 7:45AM! \nWe are limited to 10 cars.  I’ll not be turning off the RSVPs for this event but know if you’ve signed up and you are after the 10th car registered\, you’ll be on standby\, and I’ll contact you if one of the first 10 RSVPs cannot attend based upon order of sign-ups. \nI’ll be periodically adding the names of those signed up right here in the event text so you can see if you’re registered.  I’ll be in contact with each parade participant to verify attendance as we get close to the event. \nHere are the cars and participants registered thus far: \n\nDenny and Trudy Garland\nArthur (Mack) Coppage\nWendy Hanson and Bill Kaelin\nHoward Hodges\nKristie Hollingsworth\nMike Salonga\nJean Stiegelmeyer and Jim Cyr\nMike Ware\nJohn Kummers\nKirsten and Mike McGinn\n\nWe currently have our 10 cars for the parade\, however if you still wish to be an alternate/stand-by please let me know! \nI will periodically update the list above.  Last updated on April 20th.

SUMMARY:Zip Corvette Customer Appreciation Day
DESCRIPTION:Our Cruise to Zip event will be for their Customer Appreciation Day which is Saturday May 6th. While there\, all receive 10% off of purchases in their showroom.  Zip opens their campus to Corvettes and offers free food and drink.  We follow up with our own luncheon at the Roma Restaurant near the Zip Corvette campus at 1PM before heading home. \nWe will meet at Greenbrier Mall at 9AM and roll at 9:15AM.  We’ll also stop at the rest stop on I-64 at mile marker 214 at 10:30AM to meet any additional BCC members.  We will leave the rest stop at 10:45AM.  We anticipate arrival at the Zip Corvette campus at 11:15AM.  For those wishing to attend lunch at Roma Restaurant\, we will leave Zip Corvette at 12:45PM with lunch starting at 1PM.  This is a sign-up event. DESCRIPTION:Join us at noon at Elizabeth River Park located on the southern branch of the Elizabeth River.  The park has one of the most active boat ramps in the Hampton Roads area.  Adjacent to the park is the new South Norfolk Jordan Bridge which has a maximum height of 169 feet. \nThere is no RSVP/sign-up for this event\, just show up.  Once you go over the railroad crossing\, turn left to enter the park then head for the Snack Shack next to the boat ramp.  Park at the pavilion at the Snack Shack.  The Snack Shack should be open for concessions\, and bait and tackle. Hours of operation are Friday\, Saturday\, and Sunday from 9AM-5PM.  However\, plan on your own lunch and not rely on the Shack for your meal. \nAs of now\, the event is a go. DESCRIPTION:Join our friends from the Old Dominion Corvette Club of Sterling Virginia for their 34th Annual All Corvette Cruise in at Bomnin Chevrolet in Manassas Virginia.  Pre-registration is $15.00 (before August 11th\, link is below).  Day of Show is $20.  This is a rain or shine event.  Proceeds to benefit LAWS Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services\, Prince WIlliam County Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children\, and the National Corvette Museum.  All entrants to receive a dash plaque and door prize ticket.  There will be a DJ\, Food Trucks\, Silent Auction\, 50/50 raffle and more. \nIt’s a 3 to 3-1/2 hour drive from Virginia Beach to the Bomnin dealership.  Could be just a long one-day trip to participate in the show. \nYou can pre-register at the website address in the blue “DETAILS” box on this page which is also here. \nIf you’re interested\, please let me know!

SUMMARY:Oceana Air Show
DESCRIPTION:For many years\, the Beachcombers have been supporting the Virginia Patriot Guard Riders with their vignette at the Oceana Air Show.  This year will be like last year with our cars on the Tarmac each day of the air show as part of the “Static Display”.  We will be adjacent to where the VPG will have their motorcycles (left/southwest of show center).  We will be escorting women in aviation in our cars each day of the air show.  Knowing the Oceana Air show website (here) indicates the air show is Saturday and Sunday.  There is also an air show on Friday.  The Friday air show is not open to the public.  It is open only to DOD members\, their families\, and 5th graders from local schools.  As of now\, we will open the air show each day.  Our vignette will start between 10-10:30AM and should be finished around 11:00AM.  After the vignette\, you can leave NAS Oceana\, or return to the static display and watch the air show.  If you will be able to leave before the end of the air show. \nLt. DESCRIPTION:We’re participating in the Neptune Festival Grand Parade at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront again this year.  We have room for 15 cars. SUMMARY:Corvette Track Attack at Dominion Raceway
DESCRIPTION:Ken Holley of Hampton Roads Corvette Club (HRCC) has organized a “Corvette only” event for Dominion Raceway located at 6501 Dominion Raceway Ave\, Woodford\, VA 22580 about 45 minutes North of Richmond.  There will be a maximum of 24 Corvettes for this event.  Know that he has 6-8 spots remaining. \nHere are the details… \nThe group will arrive at the Raceway at noon and register.  There is no automotive tech inspection and helmets are not required.  Please self-inspect your car!  Following registration\, there will be a drivers’ meeting at 1:00PM which lasts about 1/2 hour.  After the meeting\, the group splits into two.  The first group will head out on the track.  Halfway around\, the 2nd group enters the track.  Initially\, each group moves (relatively) slowly allowing the drivers to acclimate to the track and slowly speed up.  The first session ends after 6-7 laps and the track is exited.  Each group shuffles their order and heads out for a 2nd session of 6-7 laps.  Cars leave the track again and reshuffle.  A third session occurs for a last set of 6-7 laps.  Once over\, cars exit the track.  Expect max speed of 100+mph on the straightaway. DESCRIPTION:Pay just $25 for the opportunity to drive your own car on our 3.27-mile Full Course for 15 to 20 minutes. TICKETS NOT AVAILBLE FOR ADVANCE PURCHASE. \nThe Charity Laps for Victory Junction at VIR Event is here. \nFor those wishing to go will meet at Greenbrier Mall at 6:30 am\, adjacent to Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant (here).\nThe driving time to VIR from the Greenbrier Mall is about 3.5 hours. SUMMARY:Veterans Day Parade
DESCRIPTION:Join the Beachcombers for the Veterans Day Parade at the Oceanfront.  We have room for 15 cars.  We will discuss where to have a brunch while we’re preparing for the parade.  We will first meet at the parking lot across General Booth Boulevard from the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center at 8:00AM.  We will roll at 8:15AM to our staging location on Atlantic Ave between 12th and 14th St closer to 14th St.  Know that there is no longer a 13th St.  The parade steps off at 9:00AM.  The parade route turns left off of Atlantic Ave at 17th St\, then right on Baltic Ave\, then left on 19th St.  The parade route ends at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial across from the Virginia Beach Convention Center.  We are asked to continue past the Convention Center to not cause any backups on the parade route itself.  We will most likely stop temporarily off of Pavilion Dr at the DoubleTree hotel to remove any decorations/flags from our cars and then proceed to brunch. \nYou can RSVP/sign up below! \nHere is a list of Beachcombers who are participating: \n\nWendy Hanson and Bill Kaelin\nJim Cyr\nMack Coppage\nMikael and Michael Salonga\nJeff Biggs\nRalph Scichilone\nTerrie and Kent Wagoner\nPreston Powers\nBrenda and Skip Cutting\nJake Orbach\nWoody Cohen\nRuth Baum\nKristie Hollingsworth\nMichele and Perry Suttle\n\nThis list will be updated periodically.  This list last updated on November 10th.
